Yasmin Mattox '07

Raised in Harlem, New York, Yasmin Mattox moved to the Rochester area after earning her Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Alfred University, recognizing the promise of the Greater Rochester area for young professionals.

Trained in the social sciences, specifically Political Science and then International Studies (M.S. from St. John Fisher College), Mattox is an interdisciplinary professional and entrepreneur who has worked in the legal, mental health, renewable energy (hydrogen fuel cell), consulting, and higher education fields - the common theme in her work being continuous improvement and innovation. She serves as Director at University of Rochester’s Barbara J. Burger iZone, a programming and services hub, within University of Rochester Libraries, which helps students become creative problem solvers, innovators and changemakers who can accelerate the positive impact they have in the world, often starting with the communities closest to them.

Mattox is an active member of the community, assisting civic and cultural organizations such as Jack and Jill of America, Inc., Rochester Chapter, as Vice President, TechRochester, as Director of Community Programs, Rochester Police Foundation, as Secretary, and others, both within and outside of the Greater Rochester area.

Yasmin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Alfred University in 2007.
